Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

FYI...I can't remember where I heard it now, but I know it was fairly recently...also don't know if it was with the old owner or the new one...I had heard that these "Custom Incubators" were catching on fire randomly...I'll stick with my Hovabators...

lol!! OMG! I guess that is probably the danger with any wooden incubator...spontaneous combustion! lol
Dang it.. I need more than one hovabator. It costs me over 200 with shipping to get one here. And all I still have is a dumb little styro-bator. I don't need a cabinet incubator that holds 350 eggs.. not to mention I am sure they would not ship one to me in Hawaii anyway. Some people don't realize that Hawaii is actually a state in the United States of America.
I guess I could try to make one. Of course then I have to deal with tweaking it for ages to try to get it right...and spontaneous combustion.

Why does GQF not make something in between a hovabator and a sportsman? For the medium serious chick hatcher person? lol

Someone should ask... If they made one that ran about 250-300 and only held about 120 eggs, I'd finally be able to solve my incubating issues, too.

How many eggs doe s Repti-pro hold? Maybe that is an option for you, Christie Rhae. I have considered one, but it isn't quite big enough for me. I need to fit at least 100 eggs in there!

I've only heard good reports of this midsize incubator. Folks around here are always giving glowing reports about this incubator and what a great guy Mr. Dickey is.

His smallest still runs as much as a GQF 1200 series and holds less. I have looked into his. If I were to do that, I'd just buy the 1500 series Sportsmans for $100 more. It's already digital and I don't have to pay extra for it.

Hello i have a question about the ameraucanas. I'm new at this so please do not get mad at me if i say something wrong or don't understand something at first. I usually figure it out but sometimes it takes me a little while to understand.

I just got my very first ameraucanas today I'm very excited about these birds. I have a beautiful splash grown pair and a black hen. They are true ameraucanas i got them from a very trustworthy person who knows for sure that they are not easter eggers they only lay blue eggs they told me not different colors. I also got 9 wonderful blue wheaten chicks. I plan on putting these in together when they get old enough.
What colors will i get by crossing these?
Can u sex the blue wheatens from chicks by color?
I noticed i have 3 that are more yellow on their heads and the others are more white. Also the ones that are more yellow the coloring on their wings are darker then the others?
Any useful info on these birds from you experts would be greatly appreciated as i am just learning about these this is a whole nother breed not many have round here. Thanks for your time!!!
