AWWWW
Though I am a little disappointed, as I am trying for true bred chickens, they still will be loved and I will just have to try again next time. Thank you all Shaffer, EweSheep, & BarnGoddess so much for the input!

I am new to the lavs, but my first lav chick (hatched grey not black) turned almost PURE WHITE. It also had lots of yellow down at hatch. Not sure what happened with her... she is in with my lav roo now and when she starts laying I can't wait to see what they throw. If they are all white, she will go to the EE pen.

It is very close to New Jersey, so I am in the Eastern part of Pa, Lehigh Valley. (Easton/Bethlehem area) Lancaster is about an hour and a half, not terribly far, and I do enjoy going to the Green Dragon. It seems they have some great opportunities to meet up with folks on her and talk chickens. Unfortunately, I didn't know about Backyard Chickens before I decided to get my flock, nor did I think to look up breed standards (doh!) I just told my mother in law what I had my heart set on.I know how you feel Winters Witch! The exact same thing happened to me. Its been a couple of years now and I have recovered. I am not sure where Nazareth is. There is quite a few pa breeders. I will have peeps for sale soon, and have hatching eggs. If you are near Reading/Lancaster try Christine Kitsch and her son. I also want to add that there is nothing wrong with EE's for an egg flock![]()

Well Will Kitsch lives just before the green dragon where rt 222 splits with the road to Adamstown. Easy to find his home if you are going there plus you can ask Keith at the greed dragon if he has or knows where you can find some pure Ameraucanas. He was the show steward at the York Poultry show and his father runs the livestock auction. It is very close to New Jersey, so I am in the Eastern part of Pa, Lehigh Valley. Quote: She has 3 black feathers. She may just be a sport. I have a chick now that I am watching, has more yellow down than gray. I will try to get pics up later of her. I did take some yesterday.

Many of us started with "Easter Eggers" sold to us as "Ameraucanas" because we didn't know better. But now you know so next time you buy, you will be more educated. I firmly believe - you don't learn nearly as much from doing things right as you do from doing things wrong! Just think how much smarter you are now because of this!!!!![]()
Don't be disappointed!!!! Not a thing wrong with Easter Eggers!! Enjoy them and the fabulous colourful eggs they will bring you! There is MUCH to learn from all of them.
