So That means all lavenders are EEs then

With the exception you can get good lines that breed true and breeders are working on getting the color accepted...but these things take time...

Since they are not recognized, in my eyes yes. And FYI all Silver chicks I have seen that I have hatched out always have yellowish/pinkish legs. They do not turn slate until later and the shade always varies. I have even seen them go through a phase where they look a little greenish. When they mature I always look at bottom of feet to make sure they are white to make it into the breeder pen though (along with a LOT of other criteria) Granted I have only been working with them for 4 years but have hatched hundreds. The top chick in previous post is really close to correct phenotype bottom chick is definitely EE. Just want to put my 2cents in lol

Ok so here is how i am seeing it can go 2 ways either all chicks with 2 pure aurcana parent are pure or every color that isn't standard is an EE so everyone out there with a lavander or any kind of splash really just has a fancy EE.

Here is some of the birds I am keeping for the "blue lacing project". I should say as of right now. I am going to grow them out to 16 weeks until I make the final cuts. I am trying not to get attached to any of them until I know they are staying.

Ameraucana you mean?? Behind in reading posts, so hope I am not taking this out of context.....but I prefer to call my lavenders "Project birds"

After all my time and effort it is just a little indulgence I request.

Araucanas are a separate breed from Ameraucanas. I assume you mean "Ameraucana" because this is an Ameraucana thread.

Splash are a special case of blue, carrying a double dose of the Bl gene, not officially recognized because they don't breed true, but they are a natural result when working with Blue chickens of any breed. Splash parents can produce true Blue Ameraucanas.

Lavenders are very well organized project colour. I believe, very close to going for acceptance in the Standard.

I hatched four little wheatens a couple of weeks ago. I just wanted to add a few more blue egg layers to my flock. I had a silver pullet. I think she is beautiful, but you could not handle her. I ended up re homing her since she was not to happy in my mixed flock. I decided to try wheatens because from what I read they have some of the best egg color and are not as flighty as the silvers.

Well I have to say I am quite taken with these chicks. I like friendly birds and these babies are definitely that. They always jump on me and love to be held. They fall asleep in my hand all the time. They are making me rethink what breeds I want to work with. I am really liking their personalities.

I do have a question. Do the blacks have similar personalities to the wheatens? As in not flighty and being friendly.
