Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I recently had another breeder make an interesting suggestion: put a drop of food dye in the vent of your hen to track who is laying which eggs. You'd know who is laying your big/small/colored eggs.

Thank you for this tip! I am trying to track which of my girls is laying which eggs because someone is giving me chicks with DQs. I plan on replacing my roo, but I want to know which girl it is anyways.

I am loving this pullet!!! She is 14 weeks.

I like her..use her for your lacing project!
I have 17 blue andalusian eggs developing so far.

That is much better than my fat ZERO from my last batch of eggs. lol
My John Blehm blacks got moved outside today. Moving right along!

I need to add more hens to my flock. I have a wheaten roo and a blue wheaten roo, and only 2 hens for them to mate with :/
If anyone has wheaten or blue wheaten hatching eggs forsale please pm me. If I like your lineage then I'll defiantly buy some eggs :)

There are several in the Buy Sell Trade Section now........

I have heard the term shafting....does this blue bird have shafting and if so is that bad?
Shafting is when the shaft of the feather is either lighter or darker than the color of the whole feather. In my very humble and inexperienced opinion I would not think that blue bird has shafting. I think it would need to be more of a contrast to be called shafting.
