I understand both sides but even I shy away when things get too negative.I know everyone has the best intent.Sometimes a honest assesment of the tone may be in order.That said lets move on to more positive things.

Beautiful! Have at it then, that is one beautiful blue egg! I have heard some chickens can be hard to come by in Canada. It must be very frustrating.

Definitely hard to find some common breeds in the US here in Canada. It took me forever to even find EEs, and those had to be imported :/ Sucks!

Buff in Ameraucanas are supposed to be Self colored, he is a very handsome boy. What varieties does the breeder have?

He is a very handsome boy and has some traits that I would really like to improve on in my wheatens. I'm not sure what other varieties the breeder has, but I might have to find out. At the time, I was only looking for wheaten, so was not concerned with other varieties.

Would he breed true (buff) if bred back to a buff hen? Or should I just declare him an EE and move on?

You can get back to buff if bred to a buff.That is what I am doing.Every now and then a breeder finds theirsef with only one bird in a color.If nothing is available I breed to the next best color choice.It may take 2 more crosses to buff to bring back all the genes to make them buff.Even then not all will be keepers.In livestock I belive they call it grading up.Anyway many a herford cow in the west traces back to a longhorn cow.So it does work but it takes time.

He might carry wheatan, you could try crossing him back to your wheatens and see what you get. If he is split to wheaten then you would get %25 wheaten out of the cross, split BBS based on what you cross him with. You could take him back to a buff, but it would almost be pointless because it would take awhile to get the black/ blue out.

It looks like the one and only lavender I hatched out of 12 eggs. Unfortunately a hawk grabbed her and dropped her. She died before she hit the ground. She was only 8 wks old.

Thank you guys I was struggling between blue and lavender, as I recall roo with her befor I bought her was lavender. Oh well I wass hoping she was blue, just have to keep excellent track of her eggs orf let her go, though that's tough cause she is the first I hatched from my. Own egg....

my blue was just a shade lighter than my blacks.. I miss the lavender girl. he was so pretty.
