Ameraucana

Ameraucana = specific colors or varieties, white skin, slate wash on the shanks.
Easter Egger = Anything that doesn't meet either breed standard for Araucana and Ameraucana breeds.

Thanks for the info. I like getting a few green eggs along with the others. Wish they were blue. I'm assuming my chicks are EE as well, are they crossed with other breeds, or just hatch without the preferred skin color?

Hatchery sourced Easter Eggers aren't really mixed breeds. They just haven't been bred to meet a specific breed standard like Ameraucana have. They are actually what the Ameraucana breed was derived from. And just because you have Easter Eggers, doesn't mean you won't get blue eggs. It just means you can't be sure of it. An Easter Egger could potentially have genetics to lay just about any color egg, and you never know what color a hen will lay until she finally does lay. That's why they are called Easter Eggers. And that unpredictability is part of what makes them so popular. Each one is a complete mystery.
