Crazy For Color
Chirping
I purchased this little cutie at Tractor Supply labeled as an Ameraucana. I know they’ve been known to label their chicks wrong so am wondering if someone can confirm this? Or do I have an Easter Egger?

As far as I know, it's breeders and a couple hatcheries (Meyer and Cackle) that offer true Ameraucanas. $25 for chicks is ridiculous, especially for straight run. Are they even NPIP? That would just be pure GREED!The farm down the street from me has Amerucuan and they don't sell them for less than $25. That's a cute little EE... I love my EE, but I also can't wait to get my Amerucuan later.
I KNOW how much it cost to collect good stock, grow them out and hatch the eggs. You can buy the real thing directly from John Blehm at Fowlstuff.com for $8 each. (Yes there is a 25 minimum and they are still straight run. But that includes shipping)

So most feed stores including TSC, aren't chicken (or even animal) experts. Some employees literally have zero experience with farm animals and give the worst possible advice, that they are repeating simply out of not knowing any better. ALWAYS get a second opinion on ANYTHING you are told there!I purchased this little cutie at Tractor Supply labeled as an Ameraucana. Therefor they label the chicks as what they are told they are from the hatchery. Some hatcheries DO disclose on their website that their "Ameraucana" are NOT for showing and are simply a "representation" of the breed.
