Ameraucana?

I bought 3 in August that were from a supposedly reputable breeder. 2 of them looked like the OPs. I paid good money (not TSC feed store money...) for 3 mutt chickens. Really, really pissed me off.

That's part of the problem too... People get their stock from the hatcheries, or don't know what their doing when they breed, and muddy the stock. I'm sorry for how that went for you. All I can say is Research Research Research!

See, I DID do my research. From every indication, she was a good breeder. After I had the issue, I've been in contact with a few other people who've had similar issues with her and her stock.

If you really, truly want to get true Ameraucana's, I would use the lists of breeders on their sites to obtain good birds or eggs to hatch. Both of these sites have lists of breeders:
http://ameraucanabreedersclub.org/faq.html
http://ameraucana.org/
When you are interested in a particular breed, then educating yourself as much as possible, and asking lots of questions is important in getting the best birds for you.
There is SO much miss-information out there, it gets very confusing, especially for new chicken owners. There is absolutely nothing wrong with easter eggers, I love mine, they are great birds, and many of them are quite beautiful. Unless you want an actual Ameraucana, then they aren't the right thing.

I appreciate your help, but I'm good.

I'd found and explored both of those websites, before I purchased my three chicks.

It's not that the information was confusing. It's that the breeder literally lied to me.

As a former sheltie (dog) breeder, I'm aware of research and educating myself.
