I'm noticing that my Black Ameraucana are doing something different to the Black Australorps I had and the Ayam Cemani I have in with them now...I am still relatively new to chickens and individual breeds, but was curious if it was just a breed thing...

They are just over two weeks old right now and are walking around with their mouths open, wiggling(if that makes sense) their throats...It's odd...I think I noticed it a few days ago, but didn't realize it was all of them...Is it their breed or could something be wrong with them?

I honestly don’t know what it would be I have Ameraucanas Easter Eggers and austorlorps none have done that which breed is doing it? Is it all the time?
Is it affecting their eating and drinking?
Do you keep oyster shell and water in the coop or anything besides their food they may have eaten?

I think I know what you're talking about, it's like panting but a little more neck movement. Sometimes my girls do that when they get excited and eat too fast. I've always thought that it was just them moving stuck food down their throat. Interestingly enough, it is a behavior that I've noticed more often in my ameraucanas/EEs, although I've seen it in a few others. I wonder if that breed just has smaller throats, as an accidental side effect of breeding, or if it's just a coincidence. :idunnoEither way, I don't think it's anything to be too concerned about unless it persists on a daily basis.
