Ameraucana?

Thanks for all the feedback. I tried to find all the info myself because she seem to fit the ameraucana profile well. Anyway here is one of her offspring crossed with RIR.

I've gotten a couple of silver EEs over the years and they've all shown they had some genes that deviate from the Ameraucana standards, whether obvious or more subtle. They're still pretty birds that lay pretty eggs with blue shells and that's what most of us are looking for when we buy them.

I don't like that some hatcheries label them Ameraucana (and then that's what the store puts on the bin) when they know full well they don't meet breed standards and cannot be entered in the competition at your local fair under that category.

I will say that I paid over $20/chick for purebred Ameraucanas at Cackle Hatchery last spring and will do again this year. If you're paying $3 to $5 per chick for a bird at a TSC or similar feed store, I would not bet on it being a purebred Ameraucana.
