I have 3 six month old ameraucana pullets. They are in a flock of 17 all females. In the last few days 2 of the 3 have lost most of their beard feathers. I have inspected and can’t find any signs of mites. There is no blood or signs of injuries or sickness. I haven’t witnessed any others pulling feathers. They are pretty high up in pecking order and I’ve never seen them be picked on. They are energetic, laying eggs very well, eating, drinking and otherwise seem very healthy in every way.
1) Ameraucana, 6 and 7 months old. Healthy weight. No weight loss noticed.
2) What is the behavior- completely normal
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? 2 and 3 days
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? No. Just 2
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. No
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. Nothing I’m aware of
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. Eating and drinking normally. All flock, occasional scratch and treats, water
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. normal
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? None other than adding vitamins to water yesterday evening
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? Myself
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use 8x8 coop attached to a covered 16 x 16 run. Medium pine shavings for bedding with First Saturday Lime added monthly. Sweet PDZ stall refresher in litter boxes under roosts.

Any advise? The only other wired thing I can think of is that I did notice some small feathers of the same color in a nest box yesterday. Could the others be pulling their feathers while they are laying eggs maybe? I’ve been watching them closely and haven’t witnessed anything like that. Thank you for any insight!

Are they growing new feathers? Could they be molting or changing? Do you have pics
