Ameraucanas

I would definitely recommend a barred rock. Mine is great! She hops out of the brooder box to come over to me. Sits on our lap, perched on our arm/finger. So curious and sweet.

I also have an ameraucana, but I have a feeling she might be an Easter egger. Apparently rural king mislabels? Either way, she's still very curious.

When they come from a feed/farm store, you can be quite sure they are not "standard" Ameraucana chickens.

So I figured I'd just tell you their names before I start. I have a black ameraucana named Fern, a gray/black one named Beatrice, or Bea, and 3 barred rocks named Peanut, Peaches, and Cream.
I promised i'd post some pics, so here they are! Here's the eggs I got today,

I started with 4 Barred Rock and 4 Ameraucana. They were a great choice. My cat Gatsby is their guard cat

Haha! That's exactly what I've been calling mine too! They look just like vultures. Especially in this pic.
