Ameraucauna EE ...or .. ? Can you help me identify my chick

Agreed, these are all easter eggers, and not ameraucana. They don't follow any of the breed standards for ameraucana.
The black is a pullet.
In the orignal pic, the white next to her is a cockerel, and the one with his back to the camera next to the white is also a cockerel.
Thanks for helping me to understand, and take the time. I admit I feel disappointed. I thought I was buying Ameraucauna chicks, but regardless they are great, and I’ll get some nice chicks, and some beautiful blue eggs. Where would you or anybody on this forum get pure Ameraucauna.? Someone here must know...

The problem is that a lot of people call the Ameraucanas, Americanas, so if you don't pay attention, they get you. It's a marketing ploy. A lot of hatcheries do this. I know that Meyer and My Pet Chicken, both have real Ameraucanas. You will mostly find the Blue/Black/Splash color. I think some other hatcheries have started carrying them, but I can't remember right now. If not, you can go to http://ameraucanabreedersclub.org/ and look for a breeder in your area.

If you are really interested in Ameraucanas, you can first go to the link that EmmaRainboe posted earlier in the thread and read about what the differences are between them and Easter Eggers. After that, I would just read anything you can about them. I try to do that with any breed that I'm very insterested in. The breed clubs or associations are great sources of information on their particular breed.

I have a blue one that I hatched and she's a sweetie, plus lays some nice blue eggs. Good luck getting some and enjoying them.

Agree with what @PRchick said above... Additionally, I suggest familiarizing yourself with the breed standards listed on the breeder's club page, listed above. And the gallery page. There's lots of great pics of the different SOP colors at different stages of development. Finally, if you do find somebody in your area, especially if they're not on the Breeder's page; ask to see the parents, ask what color(s) they're selling: a true breeder will always say they have Buff Ameraucana, or Blue, or Splash etc.

Good Luck!

Thanks, sound advice, I’m interested in the Orpington so maybe I’ll start researching them

Also just wanted to add, I took a look at the Ameraucauna chickens on the association page, and truly my chicks look nothing like the pure bred AM. Thanks for bringing me into the light...
