Thanks @Miss Lydia for appreciating my stories. You know, if that silly little thing called 'life' didn't always demand so much of my time and attention, I always thought that I would have liked to have been a writer...oh well...to dream the impossible dream...
You'd make a good one I think @mightymax keep them coming.

ok does any one else have problems with there geese attacking there ducks. I went home yesterday and the ducks got out with the geese and I was missing one of my younger duclair ducks so I went searching and I found her under some brush the adult gander did a number on her . her whole back was plucked and bleeding. this isn't the first time for some reason he hates this duck. now this is one that was raised with the baby geese and she still thinks she a goose. the thing was when I was treating her ( I had her in a dog pen that wasn.t being used) the geese were tiring to get her through the fence why are they so mean to her. I will never raise ducks and geese together like that. she wants to breed with the baby male. I was hoping that all would get along during the day till spring. another question will I have to separate the geese in the spring. I am going to down size on the ducks so I will have more room for the geese. some times things don.t work out the way you would like them to.

My geese are always more hateful to just one of my Muscovy ducks I have to watch them like a hawk, pardon the pun,

Yes you will have to keep them from the ducks once breeding season starts that is even worse than now.

If you can get some BlueKote for your lil duck that will help heal and also disguise the wounds.

Is there a way to tell the males from the females? I have 6 Buffs atm and I think I may have lucked out with 3 males and 3 girls. I have 3 that have thicker legs and are bigger than the other three. Would those be the males or do I have to wait until they are laying to see what I have? I have had them before but had 5 girls. The three smaller ones have more of the look I was use to seeing with them from having them before.

Usually gander have long necks and thicker legs can you post some pic full length body poses the ganders will also walk with head up where females will walk normally with head in normal position.

I will try to see what I can get tomorrow. The geese are usually not camera friendly and they know I am horrible at taking pictures.

well I finally got another camera it is only a point and shoot but it is better then nothing. heres my goose family a pair of blues and there adopted buff babies. the male blue is the goose that is trying to kill my duck. he almost succeeded the poor duck , I missed one cut and she developed maggots in that hole. I treated her she is doing better so far. she can never go in with the geese anymore. I tell you it is easier to treat a horse then a duck.

Thankfully you found the maggots in ti me it doesn't always end this way sadly.. They are gorgeous but as far as the ducks go I have to watch mine like a hawk my youngest gander [a year old in May] is my worst he will get the duck pinned down then the other 3 come and start on her I have been letting my ducks into back yard to keep them separated from the geese. Also seems mine have it in for just this one blue muscovy they will go after the others but this is the one I always find they have pinned down. I am glad you were able to help yours get well.

Recently discovered I can walk my buffs on leash... How hysterical is that?! I love these birds, it's likely we have another one coming to join our goose gang soon!
