This is the extent of our leaf raking, that's the kids raking them to play maybe a week ago nowView attachment 1978201

Is that a magnolia on the left? If so do you have to pick up leaves in July? I had a great big one in the past and it always dropped leaves in the summer

We have 2 big magnolias and a huge pecan tree in the front yard. I never pick up leaves, they just get mowed up

A little early lunch of beaver stew...

Not bad at all as far as I’m concerned, but I’m not picky... we’ll see what my wife thinks this evening though

And wet freaking grass on top of it. Might as well drag a cedar tree in the house.
Smoke is blowing right over where my Cayuga pen is too. :barniePoor birds!
Oh, it's about time for the apple growers to trim trees (and bulldoze the older ones too).
Usually several days of smoke, you don't want to go outside much then. It's not quite so bad on my side, but the way the smoke comes up the creek it's so heavy my neighbor's house just disappears completely:hmm

Really??!!!...You've been waiting to play a whole video of smoke watching?? NOPE! :lau

Simmer down. I was just looking for a reason to post that video. :lau
I haven't even got warmed up yet. . it's way too early to simmer down. :lau

If they’re maples or some other softwoods then they might be good for the ground... if they’re oaks, etc the tannins in the leaves will lower the PH too low, making the soil bitter

That concludes this episode of ‘the internet science lesson I didn’t ask for” :p

I mow most of them, but sometimes burn some piles here and there, but I don’t have any neighbors to complain... or to spy on ;)

Just be glad they don’t have a burn barrel that they burn plastic in... my MIL lives in a tiny little town where it’s legal to burn and someone burns plastic and stinks up the entire town
Well ok tree expert then
Wonder how things still manage to grow in the woods with all that bitter soil? :gig

Oh don't worry I've got the crazy dude behind our place that burns all the plastic and horrible stuff you'd ever wanna smell.

Still laughing about the bread.

We had an auditor today. She came to watch service. She looks at that and says. . BREAD? what is that about. Aren't you supposed to have Italian bread with chicken strips.
Man she thought she busted me. :lau:lau:lau
Showed her the recipe.
She's like
oh.
Well that must be a new thing. :lau:lau

A lawn has a hard time growing with soil that is too acidic... the little fine root hairs for grass gets ‘burnt’ by the acidic soil, and the grass can’t get the nutrients it needs to be healthy...

In my case that means adding lime to sweeten the soil to get anything to grow...

Wait, you have a guy burning trash next to you and you’re getting simmered up about leaves?... you better move to the school house now before you strangle some townie for holding their mouth wrong :p
