Good luck we sat the other evening let a 8point, 4point and a few does walk. I’m just not keen on killing one this year so unless it’s an older deer or I finally just wanna get one for meet I’ll likely let em pass.

I reckon but instead of taken pictures I’d probably just be watching and trying to learn. It is a fun way of fishing and by far I’m not a pro at it but it’ll catch fish.

I talked to a guy for awhile who came up to see what I caught. He said he used to fly fish but gave it up. Said it was just too frustrating which it can be. There’s plenty of people that fly fish for trout but won’t touch the beach with it. It takes a special kinda stupid person to do it. I’ve hurt my shoulder to the point I thought I was gonna need surgery but it finally healed after many months.
Casting a big fly rod on the beach for hours on end is exhausting too but I just don’t have the patience to sit there soaking bait. So I cast and walk cast and walk. Eventually if you work hard enough you’ll catch something.

Actually most guys just use spinning rods casting plugs which works quite well. The problem with bait is they catch a lot dogfish (little sharks) and horshoe crabs. Bait gets stolen a lot too. I like to go light and not wheeling a cooler and all these crazy rigs.

I tried fishing the beach with a fly rod people were asking me if it works. I said it works cause other people have done it but I’m gonna find out if I can. That day I wasn’t feeling too confident staring out at the ocean feeling like an idiot casting a relatively small fly.
Certain fish are fish killers so they enjoy going after a baitfish imitation more than a chunk of bait suspended off the bottom.

The guys who fish bait and plugs will generally catch bigger fish though. Especially out of a boat offshore a few miles. I don’t really do it to catch the biggest fish I’m just screwing around and I like tying flies.

That is true confidence and a bit of luck. I myself like the game type fish that’ll eat bait fish aswell I don’t soak a lot of bait as I’m like you I’d like to move and fish that like to chase, but I know a lot that like it and theirs plenty ways to fish to please about anyone.

Yup definitely. A lot of people think it takes patience to fly fish. It’s the exact opposite in my opinion. It takes patience to sit and wait for a fish to come to the bait. I don’t have that in me. I’ll get bored fast. I’d rather move and cast. Takes some time to learn to cast and the gear can be expensive but it’s not too bad.

Yeah I always take vacation the week of thanksgiving and usually hunt most of it.last year I was lucky enough to take my 9 pt second morning and just hung up the rest of the week doubt I’m that lucky two years in a row lol.
