I was looking at the rubber cords with the EZ hitches, but I honestly don’t know anything about them. I’ve always used domes or round pens. I can see how they’d come in handy. Did you order the Oklahoma hitches from woods or somewhere else?

Yeah I got them from woods. I just checked their website and there’s a delay in premade cords so it might be easier to make your own with the individual parts. I think all the hitches are fine. I’ve only used the nylon cinch and the Oklahomas.
I have some rubber cords and rubber/nylon. They all last quite a while if you don’t run them all over with the lawnmower.
Pro tip:
Paint the top of the stakes pink or orange. Not a big deal if you’re keeping them on cords but if you rotate them out onto cords every so often it’s easy to lose track of them.

I bought pink paint for two reasons. To prove you can paint a DP coon trap pink and it will still work just fine and paint those stakes. I no sh*t ran over a dozen of them over the years.

I also ran over a DP trap too. That was before I painted the one pink.

Oh speaking of traps, I found some my great grandfather bought brand new in the late 70s/early 80s in the barn the other day, they look like sh*t but my uncle was using them a couple years ago. Also found one of the old dp traps we used to use. Just gotta soak them in oil and they’re good to go again. I feel bad for your mower, can’t be easy running over that many stakes and traps

Mower is fine the blades not so much. I keep an extra set handy now. You can’t exactly sharpen that kinda damage out easily.

Can’t blame you for keeping the extra set, I can only imagine how long it took too fix those blades

hi, sorry to interrupt, but I was wondering if you have any tips on how to get a cockerel used to being on a tie cord and not freaking out? Do you start with a short tie cord, or start with only a few minutes at a time, or just tie them out and leave?

I just tie them up and then pull on it slightly so they know they can’t go anywhere and don’t hit the end of it hard. It’s not as big a deal if the cords are rubber and stretch. I’ve never had a bird freak out on a cord though.

Thanks! They are asils. They were supposed to take turns free ranging, but I can never get them back into their pens at the end of the day, so I got the tie cords. I only put the tie cord on one of them tonight, inside the pen, and he keeps trying to peck at it and take it off.
