American Gamefowl

I’m not even sure this is a Havahart brand... it might be... or it might be one of the even cheaper knock off ones? They all seem pretty flimsy these days...

I’ve never actually bought a new cage trap... I find that you can usually find someone giving them away or yard sale-ing them cheap after they give up on chicken keeping ;)

I’ve parted with a few by loaning them to friends, and then just saying “keep it”... I currently have four now, 2 sets of 2 ( 1 big 1 little)

two of the ones I have now my brother gave me when he moved years ago... they’re the newer, cheaper ones ...

... and two I inherited... those two are older style and better made ... they are metal rod frames wrapped with wire, they have no sheet metal... but the one needs new wire... it’s probably good for about two more big coons before I have to rework the wire on it too though
:lauWell if you only knew then what you know now about waxing cages they’d still be in perfect working order. Years ago not everyone was so open with their trapping secrets like they are now. It’s just nice to see people helping people ya know?

Oh .... well maybe that fella was waxing them so the critters couldn’t get a good footing to tear them up... he was a cage trapping genius and we just didn’t recognize it.... of course he had the advantage of learning new techniques in conservation officer class

I forgot to mention. I used to be a ninja before I started raising chickens. I don’t like to talk about it much because most of it is classified but I will if you pm me.

Are you saying that being a ninja and keeping chickens are mutually exclusive activities?... I never knew that... I thought chicken keepers could also be ninjas, and ninjas could become chicken keepers ...

That’s what I love about this site, all the stuff I learn by reading it once so that I can repeat it 100 times ;)

Normally I’m good at multitasking but wearing both of those hats was getting exhausting. I was burnt out and started making mistakes. I was throwing scratch to my adversaries and killed chickens with “ninji”stars by mistake. I had to make a decision and I chose the roosters.
I’m happier now.
