I have seen several of mine come in with a small plastic cup taped securely inthe corner of the box( like the single jello or pudding cups)...............they have had a variety of things in them, watermelon, tomatoes.

I personally use the cups and put a tablespoon or two of applesauce and water it down a tiny bit. You don't want total liquid to spill out in the box and ruin the cardboard bottom but semiliquid seems to do fine.

The PO rules say no food or water but this was when they were delivering overnite. We have adjusted due to shipping taking 2-4 days instead of overnite. It is dark in the box and the birds get no exercise and are at rest, they don't need much for a day or two.

Unless buyers are very close to you expect the birds to take at LEAST 2 nites and maybe 3.

Also don't expect the tracking # to show you anything except when you shipped them and when they actually arrive.

Great! Sawdust for bedding? Thanks for all your help!

Chicken page is underconstruction

I would not use sawdust, can you imagine being shut in a box with sawdust getting up your nose and all over.................too dusty.

Try Aspen or kiln dried pine bedding.

Bobby we have all been down and out and need a little pat on the back and a hand up. I got my help from Cathy, so just passed it on. MOST SErama people are extremely generous and helpful.

I must say, you have recovered extremely well and have a great looking flock of birds from some of the best.

Can't wait to see all your own chicks running around soon!

N.WChickenGuy :

so can anyone show me the difference between a choclate and a brown ?

NW, you can't tell chocolate from brown just by looking. You have to know the genetic background or test breed to prove chocolate.

I am NOT a genetics or color expert but this is what I have been told.

There is a chocolate Serama thread that might help you, I will find the link.
