American serama thread!

As a San Diego County resident, any good points that you can bring up in opposition to this ordinance I am interested in. Please PM me, I'll be drafting a letter, and attending the meeting on Sept 13.

Here is the actual ordinance in its entirety

The ordinance has been "pre approved", but not passed yet, with the vote scheduled for 9/13. I would like to present to the Board of Supervisors, an argument against the proposed ordinance. Let it be known, the I am totally against bloodsport. I just believe this ordinance is too far reaching, and that it affects our small hobby breeders of Serama directly, as well as many more. Personally, I could hide under the provision of 4H/ FFA, but I'm willing to stand up for those of us who don't have that provision to hide behind. The 50' housing limit is another provision that affects me directly, and perhaps many others. I am on a .51 acre lot, but I don't have 50' from my house to put a coop. They are 50' from my neighbors house, but it would still be closer than that to mine.

So in that respect, if anybody, even you non Californians, can look at this ordinance, and give me some good ammunition to fire back with, it does pertain to us all. What happens here, may happen where you are, before you know it.

for some reason silly Chiquita loves to nest in bags of shavings. She fits perfectly in them since she's under 9 oz.

Really? I would never cull a bird for that...but that is just me. He will probably grow out of it. I had a bantam cochin like that. He is now top rooster outside.

That's why I asked if hers were skittish I don't want to pass it on I don't want a chicken lol I hope he out grows it

No, I don't have any skittish ones, not even the girls. They are all very loving and friendly, cuddly and will hop right out on my hand. The hens clamor to get out of the cage before the boys everyday lol. The ones I raised were handled constantly and the ones I purchased from a breeder in Portland handled his too. None of the chicks hatched are that way either unless I'm scooping them out to give them to their new owners. They don't seem to like that very much
