From my understanding and reading Line breeding should be Father X Daughter and Mother to Son .... And breeding Mottled to any color will be impossible to breed out if you are going for color.




These are Facts and no one is picking on anyone or being RUDE if you want to teach other please show them the right way ...

I love my bator. I use a wick at the end to get my humidity up. The Vicks one is the best i have found. I have three of them

Thanks! I've heard that a lot of people love the hovas too. Will check out those hydrometers too.

I didn't know about the reviews section - I'll have to check that out. Normally I just log on, check messages, and then spy on this thread and hop over to the auction threads so I haven't really done much exploring for a while on BYC.

My GQFS are great. They are in my incubator room outside and I never have had a heater or anything in to keep them warm. They stay right temp no matter what. (for me at least)

What kind of incubator do you guys recommend for areas with problematic temperature fluctuations?

I know so many people who have genisis and they love them. Only reason I dont is cuz I have 3 gqfs and I want a lot to hatch.

thats oklahomas motto dont like the weather wait 5 minutes. But really.I have a genisis 1588 and a bator. My bator is more reliable. Both are forced air with turners. But i will stick my best eggs in my hovabator.

I like the gqfs just because I have so many variety of birds and in the spring I have all 3 packed with 300 plus eggs each. I thought of getting another one but its gotten out of hand. I am a true addict! Oh its bad. I check the bators around 15 times a day. All I have going now are seramas though and I love each time I go out to look because there is always a new chick to put in the brooder and watch grow.

Yes! I totally need one that I could keep out in the trailer with the baby chickens and not have to worry about it being a consistent temperature. Couldn't keep it in the house 'cause the cats will jump on it. We're in the middle of remodeling so our doors have been taken down except for in the bathroom and Joseph's toy closet... LOL. So the cats are everywhere. I keep having to chase them out of the laundry room. I have killed hundreds of eggs off with my cheap piece of chicken droppings incubator and mom's buying me a new incubator. I just want to make sure I get THE ONE and not have problems like I did with my old incubator. It's really put a hault to my hatching except for my broodies on their nests.
I wasn't sure if you heated the room for your incubators or not, Anna. That answers my question on the GQFs.
