American serama thread!

Found a big tumor on the back of one of my boys when he started limping. I figured that if he can't walk, he can't breed, and that would account for my ifertility issues. Avagna and Saffron, on the other hand, have been going at it like gangbusters, and I just hatched four out of five eggs of theirs. Both parents are the same color, and his father looks the same, but I have four very different chicks. I'm excited to see how they grow up!

Boy it has been awhile since I posted. Probably 3 months. We had our first show of the season Saturday the heartland classic here in mo. My daughter kaylee had the champion rooster and hen table top and resrve champ in the jr show table top. She had the best of breed in the in cage apa judgeing. She also used her serama roo for showman ship and was the champ of the beginner class. My birds did alright table top. Except for one of the boys who w
as a total turd flew off the table twice and bit the (very understanding) judge. The same bird won BV out of 25 birds in cage.

Here's one of my silkied. Please excuse the feather condition as he's been in with other cockerels and they've done a job on each others feathers. He was hatched from straight feather birds but his grandfather is a silkied. He's 7 months old and his first time out for pics since he was about 7 weeks old and was a bit frightened, so he isn't standing tall or carrying his tail up as he usually does. His weight is 14.6 oz. He really needs one of those gorgeous girls of Junes.

Yeagin1 -- You know, I'm not a fan of silkied serama (to me silkies are supposed to be pouffy fluff balls with feathered legs ;) ) but that "Lil Guy" is one stunning little cockerel. I think he could change my mind

VERY HANDSOME guy!! :yesss:

Thanks for the compliments on Lil Guy. I had just got a scale and I was surprised at his weight because he's very small. I guess all the weight is in his chest...lolol

Laingcroft maybe it's because he's from straight feather parents carrying the silkied gene. I had 4 silkied in that hatching. I knew 2 of the pullets had the silkied gene but I didn't know the cockerel did until they popped up.

Here's Lil Guy at 7wks....

One of his sisters at 7wks.

Here she is at 7 months. She wasn't very happy getting her pic taken and refused to hold her tail up. I guess the look says it all....lolol
