You are seeing the Maylasian Serama and yes they have that extreme behind the vertical posture and longer legs than the American style, Same bird different breeding to obtain different "postures" for lack of a better word. Us American serama lovers/breeders don't seem to care for that extreme look. Hope that helps...:)

Extreme breeders (have heard never saw) cruelty cages also known as training coops in philipines, ive heard 'some' raise their roosters in tiny cages 4 inches by 4 inches to train them to stand up straight, they have no option of walking, roosting, or flapping their wings - they are raised like orchids rightnext to each other and always in pose position. Wondering if that contributes to their lack of grace in walking...

The lack of grace is likely due to the extreme posture. When standing straight upright unlike the way a regular chicken stnds they are likely to have problems walking. In some birds their head is way back almost past the tail and the breast is huge. That's why they seem unbalanced, since really they are when compared to a normally postured chicken.

Not that I don't like the posture, though. It just can sometimes come with some quirks.

Heres my new chicks from Jerry!

This is my new little Serama (hopefully a pullet) from Jerry. She is 1.5 weeks old here!

Here is the 1 month old pullet from Jerry, she has a really cool pattern on her back, but she was not photogenic today, I think she was a little camera shy.

Here is my other 1 month old pullet from Jerry. She was absolutely mortified of the camera. At first I thought something was wrong with her, but when I put her back in the crate, she ran over strutting her stuff to the food bowl! Faker!

Here is my new Serama pullet from Jerry, she is 1 month old, you can see the difference in size from my little serama that is about 9 weeks here.

Now this is my little guy that you have seen before. I have had him for 4.5 weeks now. We named him Zero. Since he was bird "zero" of the serama epidemic, leading to the purchase of 3 other serama chicks. Here he is approx 9 weeks old here.

Strutting his lil rooster stuff.

So can you tell me anything about the color or pattern of these feathers coming in? Or is it still way to early to tell?
