American serama thread!

Just had to share this Serama story. This weekend when I was moving pens to a new spot in the grass, I had my Seramas and Sebastopol geese out at the same time. My geese are very curious. The goose came over to get a closer look and my little Serama hen puffed out her chest, flapped her wings, and told that goose right off. It was so funny seeing this little 6 inch chicken face down a goose that's more than 10 times her size. The goose sure didn't know what to think of that. I wish I would have caught it on video.

My little "pink" silkied Serama baby that hatched on the 2nd of July. Her first "real" feathers are coming in a distinct pinkish-buff color, almost a dilute pink/terracotta. You can sort of see it in this photo...the tiny spots over her shoulders are very pinkish, and her wing feathers are soft pink-buff... she is keeping me guessing. I imagine that "pink" is not really a Serama color and she'll mature something totally different LOL!

Hi! This June, I went to MI chicken-stock. My son spent his saved up change on2 drizzle chicks. Well, over the last month that we've had them, I noticed they were not growing... I got would of the seller, and guess what!? Frizzle and smooth seremas! I had been wanting them, but with BIG chickens, I decided to wait until I could afford to make an aviary for them... Well I have them now. They are living with faverolle, SS, and polish chicks. They are being vastly out grown already by the others, but hold their own... All my birds free range during the day, this is not something I am sure I could let them do though... Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Well, my seramas live with a LF game hen and a Black Star and do just fine. Are the polish/SS and faverolles the same age as them [chicks I am assuming?] Please give more info on how much space you have and the ages of your other birdies that you have now. Then I can be MUCH more helpful..LOL

The chicks that are with, some are older, some younger. They are all bigger than the seremas now.
I got them from Theron. Here is the boy, next to the SS. He's a darling little thing. The little black on in the coop is the serema pullet.

As for the rest of my chickens in the yard... I have faverolle, wyandottes, gold and silver, fav/light brahma, fav/dotte, silkies, bantam cochins, big cochins, NH, some I have no idea, and now polishes too. I have gracious... about 40 all together right now. Heck, I guess I will have to count again.

Here is a better pic of who they are living with at the moment... Building them a separate enclosure in the near future won't be much of a problem...
