American serama thread!

these are two pairs I'm supposed to be getting.

Pair #1. a coapop pair from O.C. Seramas. Not purchasing from them, but supposed to be where the birds are from.

I like this pair, particularly the hen when she is not broody. She has good type and is pretty adorable. The roo is molting, so doesn't have the tail thing going for him in this pic, but is actually very pretty.

Pair #2. From LA Seramas. Again not purchasing from there, just where they came from originally.

This pair has potential as well. The carriage is pretty nice in the hen. The roo, however, has wrytail, so will be trio'ed up with Charles and Percilla, as she's be a good match with Charles in body type. She also has a bit of show potential, too. When standing still and not running, as in the pic, she stands good and tall.

The little wry tailed boy. Isn't he adorable! He will be here only as a pet and won't be bred. I just like his color and how cute he is. Such a shame, though, as his type is amazing. Don't want any wry tailed babies, though.

Hi there! Is there anyone in Tucson who breeds seramas? I want to buy either a pair our some chicks but if prefer to buy local since i can't hatch my own and shipping is ridiculous.

Too quiet over here ;) Anyone have more pictures of their Seramas to hold me over till mine (hopefully) hatch? I'd love to see more of MiniMan too! He is amazing OK_Junebug!

This is Charles, my A Class American Serama Cock. I'm still learning the breed, so I'm going to critique him according to what I do know of the standard strictly as a learning thing. In return you "experts" are going to critique my critiquing and then critique Charles if you like and I'll see what I know or don't know.

I did this a while back, so but let's see what I've learned, or haven't learned.

Charles.

He has fairly good stature to him. Nice and straight, though I'd like to see him stand up a bit straighter. His tail carriage looks nice and there is little or no gap between the tail and the head. His head is a tiny bit forward of what it should be. It should be carried back a bit more. His back is a tiny bit long. Shorten it a little and it will bring the head and breast back and make him straighter. The wings could stand to come forward a little bit as well.

All together not a terrible bird, but not a show winner either.

I would like to start showing at a few of the smaller shows, so am learning all i can through observation. I know I can always read the standard, but I wanted to know if I can apply it to a bird and critique it accordingly.

Thanks! I love to pamper my birds.

If you smell rotten eggs when you're near my coop, it's the spoiled rotten birds! Not the eggs. LOL

I do believe there are several breeders in Arizona, so one might be near you? Look through the thread, I've forgotten who they are?!?!

Oh wow, artsyrobin, they're awesome! Boaz is wide and square like a Marine! Awesome!

Too sweet, Sumatra! I'm so new to this, my eldest chicks are 6 1/2 weeks old, so I'm really looking forward to see who becomes my favorite? Now you're making me want to paint my incoming white sultan hen's toes, ROFL, they'd look perfect that way! Plus a set of diamond earrings and necklace....

I am a breeder in Douglas, AZ about a 2 hr drive from Tucson. I go to Tucson about once a month. We are having a lawn show on Oct 20th at Arizona Feeds at Ruthrauff in Tucson. I should have some serama for sale at the show. Also our Tucson Club is having a big show on Nov 17th at the fairgrounds with ASASantioned table top for serama. Get yourself some birds in Oct and show them in Nov!! You can contact me at [email protected].

Here we go...I got a solo hatch from the first half of the eggs I set. I have more due Friday, so hopefully this little one will have friends to grow up with. Her name is Autumn. Hatched late last night, so shes still mostly sleeping. (Hence the "sack of potatoes asleep" photo LOL!

Anyone want to hazard a funzies guess on what color that is on her back? Could it be dun, or some sort of chocolate?
