American serama thread!

They frequently don't scan the box until the very end (but keep checking). You can probably pick up at the P.O. VERY early (even though the P. O. is closed...there are usually people there) if they know you are expecting them. Find out from your P.O. what time they get their last shipment today...could come in this afternoon.

They always say that but I've not had any problems. If their overnight 'guarantee' actually was a guarantee I wouldn't do it, but I've read too many instances of birds shipped that didn't have anything and then took 3-4 days to arrive at their destination...needless to say, it didn't go over well for the birds

The mail only comes to our post office once a day at 9am. As soon as I find out which way they are coming I will see if I can drive and pick them up at one of the towns that are hours away. They should call it "Overnight if we feel like it"

I will think positive thoughts for you and keep my fingers crossed. Hopefully we'll hear some good news tomorrow.

Have the Save-A-Chick ready...

I am taking a box with food and sav-a-chick and setting it up tonight at the post office, just in case I can't intercept the package. My awesome post master is calling all over new mexico trying to locate it. It is a tiny town, everybody helps each other out! I am getting close with the big guy up stairs....I haven't stopped praying today!

I hope they arrive safe and sound.

Seramas can't swim

my white frizzled boy learned this lesson the hard way yesterday. I had to move him from the serama/ turkey pen. he had decided top pick a fight with a blue slate jake ( nobody said seramas are smart either) anyway I moved him in with a lonely polish hen they have been together for a week. I came out last night and he was floating in the water dish. I took him in and blowdried him off. he is looking a little perkier this morning.

So glad you rescued him!

Why do they do that? They seem to have a superman complex. I don't have any turkeys for mine to pick fights with but one of them regularly tries to start trouble with a rooster that's at least 6 times taller and probably outweighs him by at least 7 pounds! All the big roo would need to do is step on the Serama and he'd surely squish, yet each time I let them out I have to watch the little guy so he doesn't go picking fights. He's even tried to take on a gander, though that one ended pretty quickly when he learned that geese bite!
