sugar would work too, it would help reduce it

they are a week behind yours- have to go see but about 4 months i think

WELCOME! You are a smart cookie. I totally Half - A** all my preparations for just about anything and then always have some mega disaster because I'm so eager to get my hands on something!

I had my seramas inside in a small rabbit cage with shavings. Whenever I was home the cage door was open and they would come in and out as they please. They would also wear diapers while I was home so they wouldn't make a mess on anything. It was great! I miss having them inside - but I got two baby bunnies and they are my room pets at the moment, so the chickies had to go outside for now. I'll have seramas back in my room if I ever get any eggs to hatch though! UHG haha

OHMIGOSH that is the coolest cage I have every seen! Where can you get your hands on that?!!? I need one for my serama to keep indoors!!!! I've NEVER seen a cat cage! And I work in a vet clinic inside a petsmart! LOL
Those are the single cutest baby goats I think I have ever seen! I have been BEGGING DH to let me get a pair of goats! Goats rabbits and chickens all go SOOOO well together... but he says I need a bigger yard... he's probably right, but I want a pair of Nigerian dwarfs so insanely bad I can't tell you how drooly this pic makes me
Awwww cute babies! I'm sorry about the prolapsed butt. Prolapse seems to be the theme of the week... we had two prolapse dog uteruses and a prolapse snake bladder at the clinic this week! But I bet his cute little butt will go away. Have you tried Preparation H? Even if it doesn't help with the actual prolapse part, it can be soothing to the birdy.

Alrighty everyone - I know its been a while since we've talked about Serama diapers but I have PERFECTED the Serama diaper!!!! My birds love them and they fit Absolutely perfect! I can sell them to those ho aren't as sew-y handy for $20 (They are so small I should be able to send them in a super tiny yellow envelope for cheap so that price would include shipping for now) OR if you are interested in getting the specs/pattern I can send pictures with my attempt at dimensions if you PM me, or if there is a big enough request I can just post that info straight on the board for y'all.
Now my pattern is bird specific, however the piece that goes over the back is completely removable and interchangeable so that the same diaper can fit different birds with the right back piece. I would need measurements of vent to base of neck on the chest, and base of neck on the back to the base of the tail on the back. If your guy has a thicker neck or tail than about 1in in diameter, you would need to let me know so it doesn't strangle them haha.
This is the best picture I have, but if you guys would like to see more, I can take some this weekend. Just let me know if you guys are interested in these little things.
I HOPE to be able to offer them cheaper, I just have to get the "mass production" part down pat.
This picture has BUTTONS and FABRIC straps but the model I like the best has SNAPS and ELASTIC straps. I would be happy to make a fabric and button combo but it is waaaay more work so would have to charge more. The elastic is small though so their feathers hide it quite nicely.
The snaps will also be just a bit smaller than the buttons - the big snaps I made my first few with are not only overpowering in the diaper's overall cuteness, but too heavy duty and tough on my fingers. Seems excessively strong for a tiny little serama even when they pull their very hardest on the leash/leash loop.
The inside of the poop cup is waterproof diaper fabric. My first few diapers didn't have this and I found they got really soggy and gross. The waterproof liner also adds some stability to the cup fabric so it stays open on it's own.
It's super easy to put on because of where I placed the 4 snaps on the back (buttons in the photo) so there is zero choking, squeezing, or feather ruffling in the process.
DISCLAIMER - Taco, my roo, hates his diaper. He sits on the ground tilting to one side brooding and making guttural muttering noises when he is forced to wear it. His girlfriend Belle on the other hand has no problem with hers. In fact it doesn't even hinder her ability to fly! She can still get up as high as she wants and perch anywhere in the house. It did take a coaching session of tossing her diaper-clad in the air to DH 3 feet away to get her to try out the flyaing part, but as soon as we played a little Belle catch 3 or 4 times she figured out she could still flap her wings and drive herself with it on and took to wonderfully.

You can't actually see the butt cup in the picture. It's not so large that it over powers their tiny size, so I just depends on volume of your birds poop. Belle only NEEDS a change every 4 hours, but I try to change it every hour since I'm around and I don't want poop weight messing with her balance.
The cat cage came with a pair of cockatiels I adopted, so not sure where to get one. It's an awful cage for cockatiels, but after I wrapped the bottom foot or so in cardboard it's worked great for the seramas.

Your chicken in the diaper is super cute! I might end up keeping my 2 favorites inside, and if I do I'll be getting a few diapers so will keep you in mind.
how can anyone resist these little faces!

Great pics! Wonder what is going on in those little heads of theirs, lol.

I completely forgot about a friend having the same issues with her cochin chick a few months ago. She used prep-h for hers I think. It improved a little, but very slowly. The chick is a teenage chick now and doing well.

they are my tiny ones, they are best buddies, the others are quite a bit larger

was looking at those cat cages- on ebay they are about $100, wonder if you bought some panels, and made one yourself would be cheaper??

Ok, I'll try to be patient and continue with what I'm doing adding Prep H to the regime, Thanks!

Poultry104, you could try hatching some eggs, or else, I do believe there are some members in Tennessee? And forgive me for seeming picky, but on forums, if you use cap lock, it means your screaming, so people get annoyed with it. I know it is easier to write that way sometimes, but you'll be less seemingly rude if you just used small letters. Maybe increase the size of your font if you want it more noticeable? Just a friendly suggestion

There might be a members from Tennessee thread as well!

There are a number of people on the east coast that have serama. Where exactly are you located? I assume you are looking for a pet and not show quality, correct? There are a number of breeders listed on the ASA and the SCNA websites. If you can't find anyone, PM me and I'll find someone for you. They are wonderful pets, lap chickens in fact, and do have the most amazing personalities. It's fun that there are so many pretty colors also. Don't try hatching unless you are very successful. These little guys are tough to hatch out and eggs do not ship wel.
