American serama thread!

Kukupecpec just come up to Wittmann and You can get some Serama eggs and a baby goat! We do have one little boy available yet and I might be letting Kate go as a sweet pet. She really doesn't do well having kids. Not as much as she should anyway. Kate is wonderful for anyone wanting a sweet pet!

The trees are Jacaranda. About 60 of them.
Made a pop-up tent to protect the trees & birds from sub 40 weather.

I've been clearing & tilling land. I've got lots of Spinach in the ground.
I've got 150 Red Bell Pepper plants that I started on a heat mat last month
and I just got most of these seeds today:



I'll plant the corn every two weeks and give it to my birds all Summer, along with whatever other veggies they'll eat.
I've got a friendly rabbit who comes around who is welcome to eat his fill.

Wow! That sounds amazing! I am super jealous. I have been trying to grow both plants and my own meal worms for my birds but I am just terrible at that stuff!
How much space do you use to plant all these goodies?

I bought a secluded acre in Sand Hill country 4 years ago.
I never realized how huge an acre is before now.
'Bout the size of a football field.
I got really into growing a tree called Sand Live Oak this year
and about a month after 1000 plants sprouted and before they popped their heads up,
the squirrels finally noticed them and I think they almost wiped them out?
Squirrels & Acorns = uh oh

I sell some Tribbles now and then. They're expensive.
Last Fall someone drove down all the way from Atlanta to grab 4 of my young birds.

I think my Smooth hen must have Silkied genes because I originally started with only Smooth birds
who hatched a clutch which contained 3 Silkied Serama.

Same thing happened with one of my NYD eggs. Bhep sent me an egg marked frizzled and it hatched a silkie frizzle! She didn't know there was silky in that pen, LOL

Yeah an acre is pretty awesome! We would really like to get 1.5 or 2 in a year or so when we start looking for a house.

Oh! This is turtle - my little personality monster. Does anyone know what he's doing? He finally figured out how to jump out the door on his own so I'm letting him explore and he's been doing this for about 20 minutes....

Sounds strange, but it looks like he's trying to dust himself. That's what mine do in the pine shavings, and when I give them sand they do it too. I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me.

Oh really?? How funny! I promise my sheets aren't that dusty!
Makes sense though, he has just started digging holes in the pine shavings and getting all settled in for his naps. They are so stinkin' cute!

The little boy was sold yesterday but Kate and one of her babies will be available. I don't want either one to be bred. Kate had far to hard of a time this birthing. Not really during but now she is under the weather and that is not like a goat. I will make sure she is 100% before she goes anywhere. Her little kid that I had to support I feel will not be a good breeder but she is sooo cute!
If interested PM me. kate will not go for as much as a baby will. I have taken Kate for walks on a leash she is so tame. She is my sweet baby!

Here is my Serama chicks hatched these last few days. I love the colors. Anyone have any idea what their colors will be? I have 8 all together. have 3 more in the bator but not much hope for them altho they look like they could hatch. You will see that the red one with the black patch on head is a bit splayed legged. I put a brace on her this morning and legs look normal already!
