American serama thread!

Updates on my two youngest babes right now... two weeks old... Raine and London!!! (I love them... I want to hatch everything their parents produce LOL!)
They are gorgeous... I'm drooling over here. I'm looking to purchase some Serama hatching eggs and love those colors, where did you get yours from? Eggs, I mean.

They shouldn't go outside until they are fully feathered, even their heads. Where are you located and what are your temps? I know where I am I have to wait another month at least. IT'S JUST TOO COLD HERE!

P.S. I love that silver or white shiny chick!! What is it?
So age isn't really the concern, just be fully feathered. Got it!
I live in Tucson AZ. It's REALLY cold wet and windy here right now, but they are still fairly fuzzy under their wings and on their heads. They are only 4 wks

I don't actually know any of their breeds. They are just a batch of barnyard mutts that I was using as a test hatch before my BLRW eggs arrive this week. So far the silver one is a my favorite color, but there is this one black one with yellow on his head that makes him look like her has funky eyebrows haha!

They say if you don't reduce the brooder temps by the 5 degrees per week as recommended, the chicks will feather in much slower. Cooling the temps force the feathers out. I didn't realize the importance of reducing the temps until way into raising my 3rd or 4th batch of chicks. It made sense once it was explained to me. So, if you're in a hurry to get them out, lower their temps. I would still wait though, for warmer nights.

Well I've only got the one brooder for at least another week or 2 so the serama have to share with the new chicks, and I will be hatching out a new batch every 3 or 4 weeks so I don't think I can reduce the temperature really since it needs to stay warm for the newer ones.

Oh Boy, that sucks. Please watch Turtle & friend with the newbies. They can be quite inquisitive, you know, pecking eyes, biting toes, and pulling out new feathers. I'd hate for any to get hurt. Some people on here have invented nice little brooders out of storage bins if needs be. Sally Sunshine has a handy dandy little one.

I got the eggs these babies parents came from, from BHep on here. The daddy is a black and white exchequer and mom is a little black pullet... they are throwing these amazing little babies! I am thrilled so far!

And thanks to everyone who commented.... I am so excited to see the potential this pair seems to have... and I love the black and white, too :D
