American serama thread!

Well, i knew this post was coming! but i didn't know it would be me! i just had to spit it out! We all know this happened to everyone! no one really knows how big seramas are until they raised them themselves! we all spent our searching pics of seramas to try to make a size comparison! and didn't get exactly what we wanted until we notice the eggs in the coop! if this happened to you! let us know any funny stories about it! thanks!

I'm hatching with you guys too. I threw some eggs in the night before last.

I think my frizzle started laying, so I HAVE to test fertility ya know, lol. Even though I have some that just hatched and some going for the Easter hatch too.
I lost one of my new babies last night. They are almost a week old.

I've been grinding up their feed, I have their heat lamp set slightly lower than I would for bigger babies, but if I raise it any they pile under it so I'm, pretty sure that's where it needs to be. I'm picking up medicated feed just in case it's cocci or something, although I've never had cocci in my birds so I doubt that's it. Just want to cover all bases. I did have sav a chick in their water the first few days. Should I mix up some more and keep them on that? I was thinking maybe since they are such teeny babies they just need that extra boost, maybe they suffer from hypoglycemia like teeny chihuahua's or something? I know sometimes chicks just don't make it, but if there's any ideas to keep it from happening again are appreciated. I'm pretty new with these teeny little guys still.

When I first started hatching Seramas I stocked up on GroGel. Found it on ebay for a decent price. For the first 4-5 days I always give them that plus have their reg food available. I haven't lost one yet after they were born so I am sticking with that as my protocol when my own start hatching.

Good idea. Thanks!

i am selling the Olandsk Dwarf i showed the picture of in this thread. shes very pretty and very very, soft. it might not look as if so, but her tail is slightly pointed up. kind of like a barred plymouth rock tail. she is 94 days old, this means she will start laying eggs soon! my only problem is that she is not a serama! i recommend someone with chickens already so she acclimates better. you must live in/near Miami, Fl. i frequently go to Davie, Fl. i can meet you, or drop her off at Griff's Western feed store in Davie, Fl. please PM me for prices.

Hi there, Serama peeps! My husband and I are entering the wonderful world of serama, and it's good to know you guys are around! We'll have our four adults on Sunday afternoon!

the younger

older
best hen
so I guess which roo to this hen is the big Q. I know the hen is a 3/4 shot but trust me she's the best I got. she has a sister that has slightly longer leg and wing like the young cock that I will breed to the older cock as well though she'll probably produce only too large chicks.
I also wanted to ask how long a mating will affect the paternity . They have all been running together so when I purposely mate them should I separate them for a while and then run the chosen ones together? Will previous matings influence paternity or is the most recent mating the one that takes precedent.?
Absolutely beautiful birds there.

Does anyone in the Oregon/Washington aread have 1-3 day old SQ Serama chicks avalible? Looks like the other one that was zipping isn't going to make it, and now I have a lone chick...
