American serama thread!

Awww I'm sorry :((( has anyone mixed and OEGB and a serama ? Im getting a serama rooster as a companion for my OEGB and I was wondering what the babies would look like

There is really no way to predict what could happen from that pairing....About the only thing I would look for is a great sweet, friendly personality on the OEGB so that you don't take the chance of losing that in the pairing.... :)

I agree. I just wanted to experiment a little. Lots of people love seramas but they are so expensive and can die from back problems. I wanted to see how the mix would turn out. My OEGB is extreeeeeemely friendly unlike her friend.

You and many others here are VERY curious about "back problems?" WHERE did you learn this???

Seramas do not have to be expensive. There are pet quality seramas out there for a MUCH less amount of money, just have to keep knocking on doors, be patient and persistant and one will find you! :)

WOW, this is news to me about the spinal issues. Generally speaking in regards to serama breed longivity issues; there is whats been called SSD sudden serama death no one has done a necrospy [to my knowledge] to find out the root cause of this. There is also egg laying issues that can cause a shortened life...Ovarian cancer is something else that can happen to any breed and shorten their lifespan. Roosters tend to live longer accross the board..no female organs...
I have 5 seramas that are well over 3 years old with no problems... I know that too much inbreeding can cause problems. I hope that helps you.. I am sorry you live so far away from OKIE..I know, Texas is a BIG state.. :D
