American serama thread!

I my opinion, I would not feed whole corn to ANY size bird, the kernals are just TOO big. BOSS is much smaller in size that whole corn so, to me, much safer than corn. But, still not something to gorge on ;) In the winter some corn before bed is a nice was to help keep the birdies warm over the cold night. :D yer babies are SOOOOO CUTE Artsy! :love
i have heard of whole corn causing impacted crop in seramas, wouldn't BOSS have the same risk?? so this little lady has gone broody!! she is so funny when she puts her broody face on will be adding a few more to the flock from a friend, a tiny micro that is only happy when raising babies

that is a good point froggie, i am paranoid about giving the seramas corn, they do get some of my parakeets finch food as a treat- a friend lost a very sweet serama roo to crop impaction from corn-

current serama count.... how many seramas equal a standard size??? errr... 18 plus the eggs being brooded

I scatter wild bird seed for the free range treat everyday and shelled sunflower seeds for the before bed treat, but just alittle of the sunflower seed, geez that stuff is like crack! :love

According to someones very official calculations (ahem) 5 seramas equals one LF..... :p

Of my 7 chicks I think I have 3 roos... and two of the 4 girls are frizzled. They are so sweet. They love their mama but they are eating out of my hand now, though one of the roos is pretty shy. I am determined to win him over : ) I am going to try one more Serama hatch this summer... in the incubator this time. I am excited to raise them myself. I want to handle them when they are tiny, they are so adorable!

Here they are... I'll have to get some close ups soon now that they are less scared of me and the roo's combs are growing. I had to get this shot of a chick on Daphne's back... just ignore the junk in the background ; )
