American serama thread!

he is awesome my dd, 6 grandchildren and son-in-law has come to visit for a bit. they are looking for work and a new home. again. definitely not used to all this activity. LOL I am enjoying them for sure.

I am so excited about my incubator and eggs coming. I I keep it in the kitchen but with all the kids here I would like to put it in my bedroom. Problem is my bedroom is colder then the rest of the house. probably around 68 as a guess. I keep the house thermometer at 71 but for some reason the bedroom is always colder. I will take something in there to check it tonight. it tells me the lows and high. I want perfection here !

As long as the temp in the room that the incubator is in stays around the same you'll be fine. You just adjust the incubator to where it runs 99-100 degrees while it's in the 68 degree room. If the room temp fluctuates a lot (would have to fluctuate several degrees) then so will the incubator temp. My incubators are all 3 in my bedroom which stays at about 65 degrees for my chinchillas and the eggs do fine. It will fluctuate a couple degrees either way with no change to the incubator. A couple of years ago the extra window unit in the room went out and the temp went up to 72 causing the temp in the incubator to go up to 103. I adjusted the incubator thermostat just slightly to accommodate until I could get the new window unit installed the following day and then I adjusted it back.

as long as my door stays shut it stays constant. if it is left open it warms a little.  thank you for the info.

I would say to just try to keep the door shut if you can. Can always test it out to see what it does when the door is left open before you put the eggs in too. The temp in the room might change a little but it might not be enough to change the temp in the incubator.

I had a girl then a boy but i spent a little time in between them. when my dd graduated high school my son started Kindergarten. I call him my happy little accident. but to have 6 and 4 of them be stair steps is beyond my understanding. I dont know how they do it. I am good for an hr. or so then its off to my room.

Wow. Not sure I'd want to go through it that far apart lol. The middle sister had hers at a good age difference I think. They're almost 8 years apart. The youngest sister had twins (1 boy, 1 girl). Her husband was deported when the kids were almost 2 so she's been a single mom since and was a full time college student in the nursing program. That was a bit rough on her but she did it and now can provide a decent living for the 3 of them. They're 6 now so not so bad but whew I don't know that I could do it lol. I have lots of pets which are a lot of work but not quite the same.
