American serama thread!

Sorry about asking you so many questions but I can maybe figure out what killed him and then you can secure your coop for that so hopefully it won't happen again.

No Bite marks. the coop is extremely secure. there in cemented in wire along the bottom and there was no other issues. i found out from my friend that she had another from the same breeder that died unexpectedly like that
 
sudden deaths in seramas isn't unusual unfortunately- have had it happen also- sometimes the heart, its hard to pin down- unless you get a necropsy done
 
part of the problem i have heard is certain lines have problems- with mine that have issues, less 'busy' environment helps-i also diversify, get birds from different breeders, so any chicks will be stronger- does she have a friend to be with now? He's in with two australorps and I'm planning on getting a serama hen by the end of the year. They are getting layer crumble- should they be getting something else?
