What are Ayam seramas?

They are birds bred to the malaysian standard instead of the american to some people, a particular line of Jerry's that is somewhere inbetween to others. They are a much more extreme posing bird. To many they are too much. They're exceptionally hard to get here and much more expensive. I have seem rumors of illegal importation or eggs etc, but they tend to be so invisible its impossible to know what's truth and what's serama drama.

I've been wanting some myself, but the person I planned to buy from turned out to be not someone I wanted to give my money to. Would be happy to buy eggs/birds once those of you working with them get your projects of the ground.

Sounds like a cool serama. I am supposed to get some eggs from a person who raises traditional and Malaysian seramas. I could ask her if she knows of anybody. Thank you for the response.

Ayam seramas aren't nessisairly extreme. The birds I was able to aquire are not the extreme type. Mine have longer legs and wing that give them more of a tall slender look. Also the feathers seem much tighter to the body than traditional. As chicks the ayam seems to stand taller earlier. It all comes down to personal preference whether you like the old style or new. This is my ayam, young only about 1 year old

Haha. do you have other seramas?

I do. I hatched out some local eggs since he was my only hatch from shipped eggs. The new chicks look nothing like my Singleton (Zippy). Their shape is completely different, but since I'm new to Serama, I'm not really sure if they're a different type, or what! Here they are next to Zippy for comparison. They're about a week and a half younger than him. This pic is two weeks old, I think.

Thats why I love seramas. They are so full of personality. This is my little guy. I only have one right now. But i have 7 in the incubator and am getting another bird mid november
