American serama thread!

I think I'm gonna try and breed my own silkies (breeding serama to silkie) question is how do you get rid of the fifth toe in breeding?

On a different note i should have 4 eggs hatching around the 12th, one hatching the week after that and one hatching two weeks after that. (staggered hatch) question though when i candle i can see everyone moving other then one egg but i see veins. Is it okay?

silkied is a type of feathering. It is nothing to do with the silkie breed. Silkied Seramas are not made by any crossing.

I dont really have the money to buy silkied (most ive seen are $100-$200) ive seen one before that was a cross and it was adorable.
Honestly I think that it would be a lot if work breeding the silkie out and keeping the feather type. I think that I would Look for a silkied serama for sale, I might have some for sale in the spring or summer, but it would be a while until I would be able to ship... It depends where you live

But if you do want To breed silkied yourself, you could email Pixiechick and she might know or know someone

I am not sure where you are located. But, I went to a local serama show and got my white silkied hen for $30. She is pretty nice in my opinion.

Are you still raising your little silkieds? I have been hatching some from my own, but they are related. I'm looking for some birds or eggs..

Oh yeah. I've got some gorgeous pairs I'll be selling this Spring.
Springtime, I always have more buyers than birds.
I charge between $100 and $150 apiece for my best birds.
I don't follow the same standard everyone else does. I'm doing something different.

I have a white legged Silkied Roo I can let go for $10 if anyone is near Ocala, FL.
I just tried to pair him with a smooth hen but he's way too small, she attacked!

The Roo is part of a generation of 8 birds from two hens that are 3 months old tomorrow.
Every single bird turned out to be a Roo!

The group also contains 2 smooth-feathered Roos who anyone nearby can have for free.
I don't know how well they'll fit the standard that others use.
They look good but I breed for the Ball body type.
It is a type raised in Malaysia but I understand that Malaysians don't raise Silkied Serama.

As long as you know they'll be a cross... I'm sure they are cute.

Mine are barely laying and ive also found out that i have a hen who is unable to produce/lay eggs so i now have a flighty, paranoid male who is barely eating because i took the hen out and wont put her back because shes to small
