How would a frizzle look different at this age? Curious and ignorant. My avatar bird looked much the same at that age.  I do not know her parentage.

It is hard to tell in the picture, but this chick looks different from the frizzle since they have started feathering out. His feathers are "ratty" and aren't as smooth as the normal frizzle

Thank you for the reply. I do wonder about my avatar hen. Her feathers, especially wing and tail, feather are hard and frayed-ratty. As a chick she was downright ugly.

The hen's three new chicks are normal feathered.

The hen's three new chicks are normal feathered.

well, if there is any wire in the cage she lives in that would explain the ratty feathers, My birds have slightly ratty feathers because their favorite place to dust bathe is right against the wire

No wire; nothing to account for the feather's condition. I guess it doesn't really matter that much. Overall she looks good. Just curious as to the visual difference between frizzle and sizzle.

Sizzle is more silkied looking... Pixiechicken has a sizzle serama breeding program... that is something that I want to work on getting to

I keep trying to find information on serama, but so often it is confusing and contradictory. Possibly you can supply an answer. What is the best pairing for my frizzle hen to get chicks that are frizzled? I'm thinking a normal rooster that has the gene for frizzle; a son paired back to the mother frizzle. As I said the hen has three chicks right now. Too young to sex, but, hopefully, one is a rooster.

Well, You should NEVER do frizzle and frizzle... I dont know about doing what you said... It would be interesting... Let me know!

I don't think she is a sizzle. To create a sizzle. You will have to breed a silkied serama to a frizzled serama and then breed those offspring back to each other.
