American serama thread!

Please stay "verbose" and share any breeding information. I have been putting my frizzle hen with a different rooster with each clutch. This time some of these chicks are frizzle, finally, like the mother. But I still don't know how or why as I do not know the rooster's background.

Again THANK YOU big time.

Curious, how many chicks did you hatch previously from her that weren't frizzles, and do any show even a slight frizzle? From what I've read you should see a roughly 50/50 mix but I believe there are also genetic modifiers that can make the frizzling more or less visible.

The hen has laid about 50 eggs. From those one pullet shows a few frizzle feathers. A week ago 4 chicks hatched and two are frizzle. This weekend 5 more chicks have hatched-we'll see.

So from the first 50 eggs only one shows any frizzle. The others were either normal feathered or DIS.
