American serama thread!

2 weeks ago I gave Gyda some eggs that I had tried refrigerating along with some eggs that got stained with dirt from being laid in the nighttime security nests. Gyda is in a trio with young Deanna and Deanna joined Gyda in the nesting box last week.

One or both of them has also been laying additional eggs in the box.
I had the original eggs marked and I've been discarding the new eggs since I couldn't figure out what to do with them since they'd been heated up and I assume had begun growing? Ra-unless the eggs have been kept warm for 6 to 12 hours embryonic development has not started. If the eggs have been kept warm for just a few hours treat them as fresh eggs. Do not discard them. I have had many hens brood overnight and then leave the eggs to get cold. Then in the evening brooding started full time. The eggs hatched. This is something I have test repeatedly, eggs have to be kept warm for several hours in order for the embryo to start developing. I hate doing that.

When you have a trio, do you move the nesting box to an isolated location when one of them starts setting?

I would go check the post office today anyway. Sometimes the tracking does good, but when I ordered my hova bator (it came from Cali I think...) it showed it left the original post office and never said anything after that. I got it three days after it got to the post office cause it never said it arrived. Didn't mater so much with it, but I would deffinately check for the eggs :-D
POs are supposed to scan but a lot of times they don't...

Thank you.

I sure want to buy, but... moving day is getting closer and closer. Your minimum order I believe is 4 eggs-yes?? I'll take four if that is true. I'll worry about moving day later.  Price?

Two hours away at 11:00 AM. Being delivered today! I sure hope so. Tomorrow is back to work with the wife gone to visit Mom for a month. It bugs me to no end that the eggs would sit there waiting for me to get home. Wisconsin has gone back to winter-DANG!
