well ray cages are clean and disinfected i like to bleach everythgin every six months or so to make sure nothing is lurking in the creveses. i have my birds all arrange so i just hove to rotate roo every 2 days. im glad that is done i wont have to do it again til end of springish lol.... now to get these ladies LAYING lol.

oh and my silky mutt roo i decided to name norman dont ask why it just hit me LOL....i introduced him to the cochin banty girls and he was so unsure what to do lol....first he struted then tried to crow but nothing came out then he tried to get close to one and she made it clear he has to respect the older ladies lol..... glad he has learned his lesson young HAHA...but it was hilarious he stood up flapped mouth open and NOTHING came out....i told him he is more pathetic than a 5 week old chick sounding like a squeak toy...then i pulled him out and cuddled him....he is such a good little roo.

my new blue lady which i have no idea what to name her is in with little boy blue..... he made it clear its his roost and she has to submit.....love it love it lol..... all is good here.....and ill try to snag pics later im tired form all that cleaning

I'm really wanting to get some seramas to add to my chicken projects. I think I asked this before, but do seramas come in a crele pattern? I know they don't always breed true, but I'm thinking I should do some research on the genetics of this pattern and breed toward getting some nice typey birds with the crele pattern.

Anyone have any?

Anyone have ideas about this?

All input is welcome.

I will be picking up my first seramas in a little less than a month. The person I am getting them from has a very large number of them, all assorted patterns, of course. I'm trying to decide or learn if there is a certain pattern I should be looking for if I am wanting to breed toward a crele bird.

Maybe I'm nuts, I don't know.

It just seems like an interesting project to me.

What is the fastest, safest, easiest way to got the roo to calm down. The one I got this weekend that hadn't been handled screams bloody murder when I pick him up. He tries to wriggle away constantly. When I gave him a DE bath for the mites, he acted as if I were going to pluck him bare then bite his head off! Is it possible too late for him and should I just use him for breeding? He has amazing colors.

Try tempting him with treats and each time get a little closer. Don't move back...make him come close to get the treats. Then once he knows you are the treat person...don't let him have any till he takes it out of your hand or fingers...mine love cheese. Then you have to stroke his back while he eats. then you can start picking him up and holding him. Mine likes me to stroke his comb and wattles....he gets so sleepy!

Stick him in a bird cage in the busiest room in your house, where he has to see you, hear you and get used to everything you do, without being able to hide. Just offer him treats for a week, without grabbing him, then once he eats from your hand, move on to petting him, and then holding him. Let the kids talk to him a lot, but no holding too early. It will take a couple weeks, but he'll calm down.

Or there's boot camp, where you just hold him constantly until he calms down....
