I hope she's feeling better. I had the same problem with one of mine laying soft shell eggs. Several people on SCNA said to get some Calcisand from the reptile department of your local pet store and sprinkle it on top of her feed....it works!!

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure how many of you are aware that Jacques and his lady are being auctioned on SCNA. I have wanted that guy from the first time I saw a photo of him but thanks to the summer of hell, the electric company got most of my money....otherwise he would be shipped to me Monday.

Current bid $240.00. Anyone wanting to bid better hurry!! Bidding closes Noon, Friday September 30th. Proceeds are going to the Golden State Serama Classic.

Warm bath never hurts anyone, might help her relax a bit. I have one hen who only lays soft eggs about every two weeks. Only had to help remove it one time and it came out broken but yolk came too.

Hi Ruth, try the Calcisand. It took a couple weeks but it does work. When I first got her, the first egg she laid was like that. She's the only one I've ever had that did that and I continue giving it to her.

What a sexy bird. I just bought 3 birds from Jerry though. And that's a lot of moolah from a 23 year old. If only if only...

Hey Ruth, wanted to share a picture with you of your baby! It (hopefully a pullet

) is now a week old and growing well.

Not the brightest pic but I just love the look I'm getting.

Any ideas on parents, this was one of the "N" eggs. Definitely a smooth and not frizz.

Homing question- Why are Seramas penned in small cages? For breeding? or what? Why not pen in a bigger cage with a run? In small cages do they stay cooler in summer and warmer in winter? Are they homed this way because no space?
Everyone has small cages and I think its great but I was just wondering why small? I let mine all run in the pasture when not breeding and pen in huge stalls with runs when breeding. I use a load of space and want to go with small cages like everyone else but moneys tight now so I have to wait. Whats the reason behind the small cage? Thanks all!
