You all have some beautiful birds. I hope to someday be sharing photos like this. Fantastic.

It'd be nice... those little birds totally charmed me, and I was totally anti-little-bird (well, except my fluffy silkies of course... should be getting those soon!). Oh the sound my arguments made as they came to a crashing halt as I went "they're so cuuuuuttteeee!" and cue my daughter's begging.

As far as color goes there are over 2000 color's of seramas so you would have to show me the bird you are talking about to know . and next be careful hatching serama eggs under larger birds they are so small they can get crushed easy so maybe take the chicks after they hatch and raise them . and get some seramas and have fun !

I think I'm going to follow your example. I'll get a pair of silkied from June if she has any for sale, and a pair or trio of some kind of other (I'm really fond of those black/brown/gold ones though, do they have a name?). I was just talking with my girl, we both decided we'd learn more about how to take care of them and what they are supposed to look like (breed standards, etc) before we jump right in to showing. Luckily my kid isn't as impatient as I can be!

Oh, and I don't have an incubator. But I will have silkies... hen-o-bators

That will have to work until the money becomes available for an incubator. The outdoor coops need more work, and those come first.

My layers have no problem with tellin' me off when their coop roof springs a leak (like it did tonight

The ones I liked the most are the black/gold/brown ones pictured upthread.

I'll take being surprised... heck, I don't mind much as long as I start out with good type

I am a bit paranoid about a bigger hen sitting on the eggs/chicks, so I may hold off hatching for myself until I finagle an incubator.
