That means he carries the chocolate gene! If he grows up to have dark brown instead of black anywhere, then his father carries the gene as well. The buff's father carries chocolate, and his mother is silkied. If you line breed, you may end up with silkieds in a year or two.

Welcome Jerod! So glad you are happy with your birds. I hope to see some pictures of the kids as they grow. We just basically have fun and enjoy ourselves here while trying to learn at the same time.

Lots of people on here are also on SCNA but lots of people just read/look and don't post much.

Enjoy your SErama!

Nice pullet Liz....don't know if you're into mille fleurs or not, but there are not many around and your pullet would be a good beginning on a mille project.

Okay, just for clarification (remember I am a newbie)...Mille Fleurs...is that the white with the speckly colors? (how is that for good description?). If so I think that is what someone told us our little Milli bird is. She is very white with spots.

Well, you can see her back side in this photo. I don't have a better photo available at this time. I was told that she would get whiter as she got older...I am too new to chicken genetic breeding and too new to seramas to know for sure.

eta: I am meaning the pullet next to Adam (the cockerel)....not the cochin in the distance (she is yet another project).

Thanks Ruth!

Yes they are doing good. It seems they double in size every day and my family is enjoying them immensely! I've been meaning to get some pictures up for the last few days but just keep procrastinating. I will get some up for you to see though. Good to "see" you on here.

Gorgeous birds. How far from WA state are you? Something tells me too far. bummer. Very nice. If I am lucky I may be going to the Stevenson Show (here in WA state) and there will be Seramas there - not just a Serama show - but it is nearly 8 hours 1 way for me...so still have not decided. I sure want to though.
