American serama thread!

Few things - please be gentle as remember I am new:

1. GORGEOUS BIRDS you all have. Some day - some day. Patience grasshopper.

2. Welcome to the newbie who is a "newbier than I".

3. Feel free to refer to me as 4312 - everyone on the Washintonian site does. I know this has to be easier for everyone rathe than writing out it all.

4. As soon as I get home (on lunch break at work right now) I will send in my dues and I can add SCNA member to my "signature" line.....

I'm in western Ohio, but I'll ship anywhere it's allowed. I go to all the big shows within driving distance, and I usually make it to all the nearby small shows when I don't have to work. If I do a good job saving on my heating bill this winter, I may treat myself to a trip to the Cajun Classic next spring! I'm fixing up my well insulated basement, and I have plans on spending a lot of time down there in order to save money.

you don't have to do a for sale post she is already sold ! at the end of the month catwalk her and the white one MINE! ALL MINE !

Well, I will be contacting some local breeders...but I would really like to get "stock" that are hopefully not related to anything local to help to avoid too much in-breeding. I am just so fearful of poor birds being shipped and the trauma/shock that the postoffice may put them through. I live in the sticks - literally - and overnight to us means 2 days minimum.

The closest any show will ever be to me is at least 5 hours away - Seattle area. I don't think that Spokane (4 hours) ever has any...Idaho probably does. Stevenson is down by the WA/OR border....I am on the Canadian border. Long ways. But I want to do. I need to do a lot more learning though.

eta: Thank you (I get to rushed and forget my manners). sheesh.

LOL....I would never try to come between a person and his bird purchase....you have really nice birds too.

I get bird shipped from all over and most take two days atleast only had one problem and that was due to poor shipping on the shippers end ! but all the rest have been great and all the birds have got here healthy and happy it's all good to ship birds as long as the shipper knows what they are doing .

yep many of us have had them shipped long as weather not to hot or not to cold they should be fine just be ready to feed water and possibly bathe them after they arrive

Generally 2 days but sometimes longer. I always put some kind of 'food' in their box (usually some melon of some sort) that gives them 'water' and 'food'. It is rare for them to take more than 2 days, but it does happen.
