American serama thread!

Just a quick question: do Seramas fly pretty high, like over 3 ft? Do you clip wing feathers to prevent that? My silkies are no problem of course - was wondering about Seramas.

My smooth Serama can fly straight up about 10 feet.
My Silkied Serama can only fly/jump about 4 feet.

Why cut their wings, they'll come home when it gets dark.
I won't even cut the wings on my Moluccan Cockatoo and he plays outside.

Yep....like little sparrows! Although I am sure different birds have different flight habits. I have an indoor grow out pen with 3.5-4 ft walls. Generally, I have not had any problem with birds flying out. Until a few weeks ago when one of my pullets was determined NOT to stay in there. Had to cover it up to keep her in!

Well, I set my first bunch of Serama eggs (6) from my little black Frizzle and my beautiful little Roo, Monty. Both from Jerry. I have never hatched with an incubator, so this is all very strange to me. Hope Ido everything right but my hen was not acting broody at all and she has just started laying. I will consider this an experiment and hope it goes well and I get some teeny little peeps! Have no idea what color to expect. Very exciting! Anyone else set eggs today?
