OK, Jamie, don't panic! You can put an infra-red heat lamp in a corner of his cage, in case he needs the extra warmth. Has he been exposed to any mold or dust of some kind? Do you have any antibiotics on hand? Tylan is usually good for respiratory problems. I mix it in a tiny bit of applesauce or yogurt or chopped hard-boiled egg and hand feed it. If he won't eat one mixture, try another. Do you have any Oxine? Mix some up and put into a humidifier aimed at his cage, so he can breathe it in. Does he have any other symptoms? Is he eating and drinking? Putting some vitamins in his water wouldn't hurt either...

So exciting to set eggs! The longest 21 days in history! Happy hatch to you and I hope to see photos when they hatch.
Agreed on the longest 21 days of waiting, every time my hen/hens go broody the days seems sooo long kind of like day turn into week, week turn into moth etc.
Chaili, has Annabel started to laid yet?? I am not getting any from her siblings and hatchmates (Sugars sisters).
My Serama "Anthony" is sick He's my very first and only Serama and the sweetest thing ever! I got him from Juliette and he's been in our house ever since. He's wheezing and sneezing but otherwise seems ok. I just noticed it a little bit ago when he was walking into our living room. I'm so scared. Can somebody please give me some advice as to what this could be and the treatment? I'm going to do some reading but wanted to ask somebody first. I'd hate for anything to happen to him
Sorry folks been busy dealing with the BF and truck problems!! Please make sure that yo first off give a few drops of liquid b12 then make sure you are keeping him and a warm area similar to a brooder, lots of chickens are getting upper resp problems this time of the year!! Fresh bananna is a key to making sure they have the correct nutrients and tools needed to survive. If you must use some tylan 50 you can give aprox 8 drops oraly, or you can also drop a few drops on the vent, it will go in to the system mutch faster, i would treat with tylan for 5 days until chicken appears to be better!! Key***** keep warm after they are looking good, and reintroduce in to normal temp slowley after being aclimated to warm for a few weeks or they will get sick again, Keep them hydrated, boiled egg, bananna, and the regular food, another thing people are passing up this tiem of the year is that it is important to look in the mouth, if you see stuff that looks like cottage cheese it is wet pox, youcan fix this, clear it with a q tip them moisten the q tim with lime juce, from the lime, apply this all over the mouth where the cottace cheese stuff came from for several day and you will notice a huge difference.
By the way this is info that i have found worked for me and that i have learned from some older men who have been raising chickens for 60 years, they are old school tricks of the trade that you may choose to listen to or not!! I am not a DR an any way but love my chickens and do what I can at all times to help fellow chicken people out who. these are special people and special little animals. Hope that i can help, never be shy to PM me. Oh another great thing to have on hand is liquid baytril, ithis is the hardest hitting antibiotic we can give to chickens, give for a serama 2-3 drops in the mouth twice a day for 6 days and keep the animal warm.
By the way I am running for Golden state serama councle VP again, I do it for the chickens and moving the breed forward, many people call me and ask for help and i love doing so, I was the one who got the first serama table top show off the ground in california last june and I am dedicated to getting these birds on the rise. We have some great people some fantastic little birds and lots to learn!!
Okay so I'm getting kind of worried with my birds, they all seem healthy except for one thing. They all have REALLY runny poop, like liquid and sometimes it's orangie like the color of orange clay. They are all indoors so, I don't know exactly what it could be... Sometimes it's clear, I don't know. Is this something I should worry about?
Hello!
I'm now part of the Serama clan! I just purchased my first Serama! Now I can suscribe to this thread, instead of just "lurking"! I will be listening and learning from all of you passionate Serama people.
Any suggestions on housing for my new little cockeral? Something easily built or bought would be great. I'm thinking a cage/hutch that I can put in the feed/storage side of my silkies coop. I will be getting him a "mate" when I find the right girly.
