American serama thread!

I had 6 serama make it to lock down 2 hatched on day 19 I helped one all she did was make a big hole and poke her beak in and out of it never zipped but the other 4 eggs 3 are dead I can tell they get this dark discoleration you can see through there thin light shells some times one is peeping and pipped but hasnt progressed, I hate it it breaks my heart why do they get to day 16 or 18 strong and healthy then they just die I have so much of a % of my eggs die just befor internal pip
Gingerbread and Eggnog are worth it though. Eggnog is weak and isnt intersted in eating or drinking, guess there was a reason she wasnt strong enough to zipp.

Don't give up on Eggnog. Some chicks just go to the last drop of that egg sack. Try to teach her/him to eat/drink. Maybe it just wore itself out and needs a bit of time to regroup. They are both adorable. And maybe its a micro or class A and the other is a bigger class. You never know with these guys.

Sally, so sorry to hear that. One of the chicks that never made it out of mine had pipped internally, and I knew it from candling. I left it in overnight checked in the morning and it had died. It had absorbed all of the yolk and looked perfect. I felt terrible. On the other hand, #8 was having a hard time getting out, so after 18 hours I intervened, and ended up regretting it. The poor thing was weak on 1 side, and always flipped over on its back. It acted like water was killing it every time I gave it the Sav-A-Chick, and finally died yesterday morning. It's sooo hard to know when to help and when to let nature do its job. I really hope all is going well with the others!!

Beautiful little babies! Hope the little sleepy head one makes it. Must be a way to keep it hydrated so it perks up. Has anyone tried Pedialyte. The baby drink that helps kids stay hydrated when they are sick? I was just wondering...

awwww great job on the hatch!
Harmony has two blackish Tiny Serama resting in the bator drying off yet, and the last one nothing yet : ( Not sure when to try to save it.... no internal pip but moving and ... I opened the bator (smack my hands, but Daddy tried to adjust temps in the hatcher bator and those styros are nothing like the wafer in the one he build.... anyway it was I02.9 so I had to let some heat out cause those peepers where a panting : (

Suggestions anyone? I hope he pips internally at least!! I do want want to have to go fishing for his head : ( but dont want to loose him either! They are now on day 20 and these guys started hatching on the begininng of day 19.... other egg is same size as these guys eggs.

BHep ~ Here are two of your grand serama! there heads are smaller than marbles!! AMAZING!

I think the chick is still young enough to be on the egg sack, but can't she use the stuff you get at TSC? The Sav-a-chick Electrolyte stuff? Or maybe some Gro-Gel Plus B? I ordered some from one of the hatcheries and keep in on hand. Its a green jell-o like stuff for hydration.

Congratulations, Gabrielle! How beautiful they all are! #3 looks exhausted, LOL, I love the way they fall asleep at the drop of a pin!

Yah, but for me, I'd rather do all I can to give them a chance. Only thing I'd regret is goofing up and killing them. But if I can extract a chick that's obviously not making it and it dies afterwards, at least I tried??

Aw, Sally, they're so sweet! I love their chipmunk stripes It's going to be so much fun to see them develop. You think you have a couple of twins, but as time goes by you have a 99% chance of them being totally different,LOL. Never know how they'll turn out!
