American serama thread!

I just dont get it....i checked that egg yesterday and the chick was alive...it was supposed to hatch today...checked it and it looks dead...shrink wrapped...the humidity has been 65 -75% the entire last three days....frustrating!!!

If anyone plans to buy blue Serama's in the spring, be sure to check with me, my friend Ruth has a very nice group to make some super nice blues this spring.

Here is a hen she got from me and she already has a nice blue cockerel and black hen.

She's beautiful.
My little black cockerel, frizzle pullet, and black and white (exchequer?) pullet are from Ruth. Love them.

Remember about the gene that they carry that causes them to die between 18 and 21.

Yes, Seramas carry a gene that causes them to die between day 18 and day 21. Its really discouraging when you watch them grow all the way until lockdown and then nothing hatches.

I hope you have a great hatch though!! :)

Ok I have to say, I think seramas have the ugliest "teen" stage!

The little chick Im raising as a lone chick has started coming out of it but for a while she looked terrible! I know she will end up being gorgeous but now I just cant seem to get her head completely feathered in. It still has little pieces of down sticking off the top!
