Ok I have to say, I think seramas have the ugliest "teen" stage!

The little chick Im raising as a lone chick has started coming out of it but for a while she looked terrible! I know she will end up being gorgeous but now I just cant seem to get her head completely feathered in. It still has little pieces of down sticking off the top!

OMG yes. My 10 week old baby is sooooo ugly right now. I won't even take her picture until this stage is past. I've not ever had one go through such a horribly ugly stage, so I'm hoping this one turns out to be a gorgeous bird. LOL! Maybe the super-uggo phase will be balanced by a stunning adult... I hope I hope I hope

But then again, they're only 6 and 8 weeks old, they may yet turn ugly on me??!! Hummmmmmmm!

So, I've never had any luck hatching Serama eggs. A few months ago, I switched things around to see if a different genetic mix would make a difference. A couple weeks ago, I put eggs in the incubator, not really expecting anything, but it looks like I'm going to have some chicks (as long as they continue to develop). I put an ad up in the Buy/Sell/Trade section if anyone local is interested.

These are the parents. Both are very tame and sweet. Sir Henry (my daughter named him) is a character! He is so full of himself. The hen is a black and white silkie. All chicks will be smooth feathered, but may carry the silkie gene.

Oh he's a cutie, ChristineR!

So far, I've been able to keep my 4 developing eggs from Bhep alive :) Gosh, I really want them to make it, but I feel like all odds are against us for some reason. I seriously fear losing them!

It's crazy, LOL, too worried over them. I have one chance at a frizzle, and really really hope I get one!

Say how long to I keep my Serama chicks on the med chick starter?

All my birds( LF) stay on it until 16 weeks then I gradually switch them over to an All Flock feed. Afraid to give the Roo's Layer feed as I have heard that too much calcium can give then kidney (?) problems. All my girls have oyster shell available to them in a separate feeder so they can pick at it when they need it. I will do the same for my Serama when they are old enough.
