American serama thread!

Thanks Alexandraintn and Gardeningmama, so sorry, but I don't sell eggs or chicks....I do sell young adults however. :) Check out my website.

you couldn't get better birds than Junes, in my opinion- she is guilty of getting me interested in these little ones!
here are Ebony and Jet, Ebony is insisting on being broody currently...LOL! Tiny little things

The Golden Duckwing pair are to die for!!!! Tax time is coming (the only way DH would let me do it). I just may PM ya in a month or so..

and you know what is strange- i don't think i'm imagining it, but your birds have a different personality that seramas from other breeders- Joe had a trusting loving personality, Boaz and Jet are the same way- other seramas i have are sweet as can be, but there is something i can't put my finger on about yours....

i spend alot of time with the chicks i've hatched, so i know its something other than handling- i am a sucker for all of them though

You know, in the little research I did on Seramas, I read about their personalities being in their genetic make-up. I read that if you have a mean Serama, don't breed it because the offspring are likely to inherit the disposition. I do have a mean Serama roo BTW, LOL!! So if it's true, then what you say makes sense. I guess her birds are made up of the sweet stuff. All the more reason to get one, I think!!

yes- that would make sense- i have a couple from someone who just tossed the a couple roos and hens in a pen and really didn't pay attention, they are very subdued personality, then i have some hatched from Castle Delight- now they are interesting- 6 of them, all the same hatch, 1 cockerel and 5 girls, each has a unique personality- like kids would, some more outgoing, some will wait and let the others figure things out...it is so funny to watch them and the little flock dynamics with them

I am getting 12 Serama eggs tomorrow! I found a Lady here locally that raises Seramas. I came acrossed her and found out she wanted to get into frizzles. I really prefer the smooth feathered so traded her Tinsel and my second baby roo Twinkle [for she needed new blood] for the 12 eggs. I am so eggcited!

Who is the local I you don't mind my asking? I wonde ri fshe would mail me some eggs? One day in thepost office has got to be better than the 3 it usually takes from anywhere else in the country!

Does any other breed house well with seramas? I would like to get some different breeds - love having a big ole array of sizes shapes and colors - and was wondering if I can put anything in with the serama. The big girls beat up on my roo pretty bad when they were all free ranging the backyard together, so I know they can't be with just anything. My girls are pretty un-tamed and aggressive though as none of them were raised by hand and all were used as breeding stock (got everybody "secondhand" as breeder cast offs from CL) so that could have something to do with that.

I have a flock of Mille Fleur D'Uccles with mine, and they are practically the same size. I love the booted legs too. I hatched out a few mixes, and they are adorable. I sold them though, so I only have one left (of the mix chix).

3 of mine are from Castle delights, and like you said, totally different personalities!

In fact Luna here was from Laura and I can't believe how she has been changing. I was wondering if anyone could guess how she'll look when she is finished (or is she finished at 9 weeks?)

Here is the Evolution of Luna:

Newly born, nicknamed Egghead (I'm so mean!)

Egghead at one week of age

AT two weeks she got a little white in her wings...

At 5 weeks, Luna had a white chest but her hackles were like her Partridge friend, Harriet.

A little over a week ago, she had a few white spots on her wings and tail......

Now she seems to have white popping out everywhere!

Is she a mottled? What would you call such a color?
